magisternihil's 100-word story for August 17, 2025

magisternihil wrote the following micro-story on Hectalex on August 17, 2025. Each story on Hectalex is inspired by a daily visual prompt and must be exactly 100 words.

His dad said to blend in, to be like the other kids. His mom said not to rock the boat. It’s a new town and the only way to make friends is to find out what they like and make that your thing, too. But the snow was there, and in Jasper’s mind, a Snow Moai needed to exist. Everyone else was building those same boring snow men. He just couldn’t do it. “Hey, that’s one of those Easter Island statues, isn’t it?” asked a boy in a yellow snow coat. “Y-yeah,” said Jasper. “Cool,” said the kid, “wanna play?”
