A dusty light seeped through her window. The brightness stung her eyes. Too hard to read. The woman closed her bible to bask in the sun. She placed her hands on top of the rough leather cover. Legs crossed and eyes closed. She was raised to be a religious woman. But this time she didn't know the answers. Who does, really? The death of her son left an ache that the words could not mend. Not even a band aid to stop the bleeding. All she could do was close her eyes and bask. To feel the here and now.
