joeislove's 100-word story for August 28, 2025

I was running when I got to the little ocean-side shanty town, but then everything slowed down. Like being dumped out of a boiling pot into a vat of molasses. It was obvious that I wasn't the only one in my situation; no one there ever asked follow-up questions. They didn't ask where you were from or how you got there. The most intrusive question I ever got was if I wanted another beer. Nice place. I started to imagine living there forever. But then I saw her, obvious skip tracer, failing to blend in. Back to the mad dash.
