JKWriter's 100-word story for August 31, 2025

JKWriter wrote the following micro-story on Hectalex on August 31, 2025. Each story on Hectalex is inspired by a daily visual prompt and must be exactly 100 words.

Twenty-four hours ago, when he said he needed a hand...he had no idea what he was getting himself into. All he could do was sit and stare in stunned silence at the severed hand on the window sill and wonder...how his cousin could have ever thought this was what he meant. How could one eviction notice from his landlord and a telephone call lead to this? All he wanted was a loan for back rent and a job. What he got instead was a call back this morning with an unmarked package sitting outside on his front porch.
