I didn't mean to stop here. It's just--I know, I understand the village isn't that much farther, but I feel the distance in my bones. Until I can see the roofs of houses, it's never quite real. I used to make this journey in four days, no trouble. Now five is a struggle. If I didn't have to make it back before the weather gets cold, I wouldn't hurry. But now I am sat on this bench and I don't know how long before this old body will go on. I've got to get there tonight. I'm so tired.
