magisternihil's 100-word story for September 10, 2025

George was a shy man, never one to make a fuss. He stayed as far away from public scrutiny as possible. Everything changed when he had to move, though. The apartment had a tiny balcony, one that the realtor apologized for, but George loved the place, especially after a passerby, seeing him leaning against his tiny railing, asked for the time. “Time?” George replied. “What is time but a construct created by humanity to imprison itself?” The poet inside him unlocked and he spent an hour saying more. They come every week now, to hear him speak. Some bring chairs.
