It was hard at first, but we ended up becoming great friends attending the weekly Uglies Anonymous meetings. It's nice to hear that someone else is also hideous, you know? That other people have faces only a mother could love. (Well, not mine; she hanged herself...called me ugly in her suicide note.) It gave us a sense of community we had never had. We even started planning field trips and other little get-togethers. My favorite was the Grand Canyon. I thought about taking the bag off to enjoy the view, but I don't want to scare any more children.
