The summer I learned to hop trains is etched in my memory indelibly. Trey and Dirty Matty gave me the skinny on the way down to the trestle bridge over the river. They said this is a good spot to hop on because the train slows down a lot before going over the bridge. We sat in the shade of a switch box sipping from bottles of Mad Dog 20/20 in a spot they said wouldn't be visible to the train driver. Sure enough, the train had slowed down to about fifteen miles per hour when we hopped aboard.
