Look, the economy circled the drain. It’s not our fault. People just weren’t buying cookies like they used to, and before long we were buried in snacks with no reason to make more. The elves started getting restless. Ernie was worried there would be a revolt. It was Elwood who came up with the idea of a call center. “You just take the elves who aren’t actively working and sit them down in front of a computer to sign people up to credit cards. It will save us, Boss!” Now all they have to do is bury the data cable.
