magisternihil's 100-word story for September 27, 2025

magisternihil wrote the following micro-story on Hectalex on September 27, 2025. Each story on Hectalex is inspired by a daily visual prompt and must be exactly 100 words.

“Another toy, BIll? I’ll bet your wife wonders if she married a child most days.” Bill looked up at the top half of his neighbor’s head peeking over the fence, not needing to see the bottom half to feel the mocking sneer. He steered the model airship by a tree and back toward him. “You’ve asked the wrong question as usual, Frank,” he replied. “Oh, yeah? And what’s the right one? Do I want one for my kids?” snickered Frank. “No,” Bill said as a shadow covered both lawns. “It should have been, ‘Is that a toy, or a prototype?‘“
