JKWriter wrote the following micro-story on Hectalex on October 4, 2025. Each story on Hectalex is inspired by a daily visual prompt and must be exactly 100 words.

Jay woke himself up every morning from whatever vacant room or shelter space he could find the night before and made the trek back the New Jersey. All so he could go to school. It wasn't an average teenager's life, but he was never going to be average. He yawned, thinking about how his punk metal band played well into the night. It was hard to stay awake, but he was determined to make it to class. It was somewhere warm and safe during the day until had to get back to NYC for another gig and very little sleep.
