JKWriter wrote the following micro-story on Hectalex on October 7, 2025. Each story on Hectalex is inspired by a daily visual prompt and must be exactly 100 words.
She walked along the trail toward the old, rickety bridge. With camera in hand, she stopped and took a photo of a series of locks that lined an old chain link safeguard. Each one had a name engraved or written in indelible ink of the date of birth and date of passing. Suddenly, the reality of what it all meant hit her. This fence marked years of misery for many. It was no wonder that this place was called Desperation Falls. Because this fence marked the names of every life that has jumped from that bridge to the water below.
