magisternihil's 100-word story for October 14, 2025

magisternihil wrote the following micro-story on Hectalex on October 14, 2025. Each story on Hectalex is inspired by a daily visual prompt and must be exactly 100 words.

“It’s a damned nuisance, that’s what it is,” grumbled Reg. What’s this kid doing?” Billy shrugged. “It’s artistic expression, I suppose.” “Artistic expression? This ain’t no Mona Lisa, it’s vandalism,” answered Reg as he dug the sprayer full of stripper from the cart. “If this kid had half a mind, he would consider the environmental impact.” Billy’s eyebrows shot up. He turned from his study of the melting smiley to his colleague, suddenly unmoored by Reg’s complaints taking a left turn. “We spray cleaner, scrub it off, and it all washes into the river. It’s not art, it’s assisted pollution!”
