magisternihil's 100-word story for October 19, 2025

magisternihil wrote the following micro-story on Hectalex on October 19, 2025. Each story on Hectalex is inspired by a daily visual prompt and must be exactly 100 words.

“Before we arrive, let me warn you. It’s not the most conventional of buildings,” said Sheila from the driver’s seat of her minivan. “The owner is a bit strange and has, well, interesting ideas about decorating.” Jonah glanced at Simone and the two shared a smile. Sheila was informed and thorough, but her ideas of normal and theirs didn’t quite mesh. They had been shown boring ranches, bland townhouses, and one particularly soporific two-story. The minivan turned the corner and Simone gasped, gripping Jonah’s knee. The building looked like happiness had exploded and reshaped as their new home. “It’s perfect!”
