JKWriter's 100-word story for October 22, 2025

JKWriter wrote the following micro-story on Hectalex on October 22, 2025. Each story on Hectalex is inspired by a daily visual prompt and must be exactly 100 words.

Back and forth...all day long...above the trees traveling to The secret encampment. The refugees had found this abandoned system months ago and after long hours of work, it was finally operational. Instead of weeks traveling to the encampment, now they were able to get there in an hour or so. It wasn't easy and they mostly traveled at night, but at least they were finally able to get families to safety without being caught. Every morning at dawn, the operators would leave hoping it was still there the best day. Nothing was for certain in these trying times.
