Derek doesn’t care if people are looking. Some decisions shouldn’t be made alone. The puddle makes the perfect gateway. “If I take them up on their offer, there’s a lot of risk,” he says to his Other. Kered looks around him, glances back at the two men waiting in the cafe for him to return and give his answer. “True, but there’s a lot of gain as well.” “So, you think we should do it?” Derek asks. Kered shrugs. “Your call, chief.” He knows the outcome will be worse for him. That’s the nature of this thing. But he’s ready.
