His grandmother never let him play in the mirror hall. He wanted to walk through making faces, changing as each new piece of glass came into view, but she told him in wasn’t safe. Now she was gone, and she left no instructions. He could really do with some as he stared into one of the panes and saw the man curled up in the corner of a cell. Others revealed similar occupants. One of them saw him and started pounding soundlessly on the glass. Soon they all joined in. He began to understand why no one liked his grandmother.
