Hard to believe it was still standing after all these years. Propped up by the bad memories soaked into the walls, I suppose. Years of pain and anger congealing like glue inside the walls, the connective tissue of my childhood. How many years has it been since I last stood here, looking up at that foreboding facade as my stomach tied itself into knots. Shuddering with dread, forcing my feet to move. Wondering how long I was obligated to stay and pretend I had no memory of the past. They’re not there now, but I still can’t make myself move.
