magisternihil's 100-word story for November 3, 2025

magisternihil wrote the following micro-story on Hectalex on November 3, 2025. Each story on Hectalex is inspired by a daily visual prompt and must be exactly 100 words.

Dip started the wall, stacking her empty cans up neatly after a night out decorating. Nuzz ceremonially laid his on top, and a tradition was born. Every time a can was emptied it went on the stack. It took a year before the entire wall was covered, floor to ceiling. We joked it would fall one day, and the cops would finally find us, buried under the wreckage of our art. What we painted was eventually covered over, but this was ours, and it was going nowhere. Probably should get a “No Smoking” sign and hang it up somewhere, though.
